Las Vistillas is run by Pepe Cantos and is a center for Ceramics and a museum that records the culture and traditional ways of the Guadalhorce Valley.
Las Vistallas is not just a museum offering a look into the past, Pepe Cantos and his team offer a chance to get hands on, and experience the sights, sounds, smells and feel of the way life was around Coin and the surrounding area.
Las Vistallas has its own website if you fancy having a butchers at what they do http://www.ceramicalasvistillas.com
Here is what happened during our claytastic visit:
Students arrive at Las Vistillas
Once inside the pottery room students are given a demonstration my Pepe on how to make a decorative plaque.
Here we see students busily working away on forming the shape of their plaques.
Once the basic shape is formed its time to add detail. despite working hard students still have time for a cheesy grin.
Students watching a pottery demonstration
Gabri shows the students how to throw a pot
Here we see Pepe showing us around the grounds of Las Vistallas. Students learned about the various trees and plants and the uses for their fruits and leaves.
That hasnt stopped some students deciding to try bring them home, so to help you remember what that mashed up bit of brown stuff at the bottom of your son or daughters suitcase once looked like here are the pictures of the finished peices.
After a hard days potting we all sat down and tried to take photos of each other eating, here we see the now not so elusive Stacey Bean giving me the her `do you mind im eating death glare´
this small boy has always wondered what it would feel like to sit on the shoulder of a giant punk, today he lives the dream.
An uncanny likeness dont you think?
After our day at Las Vistallas we headed to the marina, filled with boats and fancy shops it offers a touch of glamour, the distinctive moorish themed architecture is both historic and futuristic in its feel. with views like this students cannot help but be inspired....
..well they would have been inspired if they hadnt already cleared off to go buy their own body weight in sweets.
a quickly put together set of electric chairs ensures that these two students wont be overspending again. Harsh times my friends.
The students below sit and talk about the legend of El Grinno Diabolico. apparently a crazed grinning creature haunts the marina, its ghoulish grin is said to turn strong mans blood to ice and legs to jelly. Of course these stories are just myths.....
Or are they!!!!! be afraid
Once back at the hotel, an unexpected bout of new romanticism breaks out among the year 8 boys.
As the mania spreads to others its decided that all Spandau Ballet and Duran duran records will be seized and destroyed.
Below a poor misguided youth eats his dinner and thinks about where he can get his hands on some Adam Ant CD´s.
We are shocked as he used to be such a goody two shoes.
